The redevelopment of central Brixton, along with plans for Somerleyton Road and the New Town Hall, will see hundreds of new affordable homes and jobs alongside new cultural and business opportunities.
Across all these projects there’s plenty of scope for local people to shape their own town centre.
The Brixton Central ‘masterplan’ area includes the former temporary ice rink site, a number of railway arches and International House, as well Brixton Station Road, Atlantic Road and Pope’s Road.
The latest plans, being discussed across a series of events around Brixton, suggest a number of different ideas for people to have their say on. They include, amongst other things, opportunities to bring more workspace to the town centre, build new homes, extend the covered market, create more public spaces and potentially refurbish the train station.
There’s still time to make your views heard, either by calling in to one of the events, or by visiting the Future Brixton website to complete a short questionnaire. The deadline for responses is Friday 8th August.
