Lambeth dominated the Local Authority Building Control (LABC) London Region Building Excellence Awards, with building projects across the borough represented in 12 out of the 14 categories.
The Tower, Vauxhall won the award for the “Best High Volume New Housing Development” and the St. George Wharf development was a finalist in this category.
Livity School, Adare Walk won the award for the “Best Educational Building” with Dunraven School also in the finals.
Lambeth was also represented with finalists in the following categories:
“Best Extension or Alteration to an Existing Home” (Killieser Avenue)
“Best Change of Use of an Existing Building or Conversion” Rangers Mansion, Jasper Road and Sea Life London Aquarium
“Best Public Service Building” -The London Dungeon and County Hall, Riverside Building, Control Room
“Best Large Commercial Building” St. George Vauxhall
“Best Customer Partnership with a Local Authority Building Control Team” -Merlin Entertainment and London Borough of Lambeth and St. George South London and London Borough of Lambeth
Speaking after the awards ceremony at The Guildhall, Lambeth’s Assistant Director of Planning, David Joyce said: “Awards are always nice to receive but for Building Control it is particularly important as it is recognition for the growing reputation of the service and the variety of projects we’re dealing with in Lambeth. Building control is an area where customer relationships are hugely important so some of these awards will recognise the efforts of many people during the 16 year working relationship with St George South London Ltd. and Lambeth Building Control. “
