A permanent boxing club in Brixton Recreation Centre will move a step closer later this month.
Afewee, the renowned sports and training organisation based at the Rec have been working with Lambeth Council and the centre’s operators GLL.
The launch of the club will be on Sunday, April 27 in the Energy Zone from 10am – 12.
Non-contact sessions, open to children and adults of both sexes will then take place in the Energy Zone on Sundays and Wednesdays.
Steadman Scott, founder of Afewee, who’s been leading the campaign for boxing said: “This is a real milestone and a great achievement for everyone who’s worked so hard to make it happen.
“Brixton has always celebrated boxing stars when they visit and now we can find and support the next generation of local grown talent.”

He said: “Afewee helped me to put my life back on track and I’m now on the way to achieving my boxing dream. This is a great opportunity for local youngsters to find out what boxing’s about and how that focus and discipline can change your life.”
Afewee’s style of football coaching is highly respected and has earned a reputation for producing disciplined and skilful young players, many of whom can be found in the London Premiership academies and football league teams.
