Brixton Reel returns to promote positive mental health
Brixton Reel, the annual film festival dedicated to working with diverse local communities, returns from 13 to 17 November.
The free festival, now in its fifth year, explores positive images of mental well-being and self-empowerment, challenging the stigma often associated with mental health. Films and events at the Brixton Ritzy and other local venues will seek to bring together both those with mental health issues and those who want to understand more through film and discussion.
2013 highlights include:
• a powerful documentary about writer and civil rights activist Alice Walker,
• a feel-good comedy about three best friends with Down’s Syndrome and,
• a charming film about the life of a 100 year old Argentinian woman.
All events are free. For full event listings, venues and booking information visit www.brixtonreel.co.uk
The Festival is supported by NHS Lambeth CCG, and Southwark Council, promoting positive mental health and well-being.
