While they were visiting City Hall Samuel, Jeremiah and Elizabeth met Boris Johnson and discussed the 100 More Police campaign with the Mayor (picture copied below)
Cllr Jack Hopkins said,
“I am delighted that Samuel, Jeremiah and Elizabeth have had the chance to meet Boris Johnson and tell the Mayor why Lambeth needs 100 more police today. Boris told us that he is delivering ‘5000 more police for London’, so surely 100 more police officers for Lambeth is not much to ask.
‘Lambeth has faced a huge 20% cut in the number of police officers over the last two years, the biggest of any London borough. It’s time we were given our fair share of police officers to make our streets and homes safer.
2,836 people have signed Lambeth’s petition for 100 More Police.
The latest figures on the GLA website say the number of police officers in Lambeth have fallen by 230 officers, from 1052 in May 2010 to 822 in May 2013.
