Lambeth congratulates Mike Suarez

Lambeth Council Leader, Cllr Lib Peck and Lambeth Council Chief Executive, Derrick Anderson, have congratulated finance chief Mike Suarez, on his appointment as the new Chief Executive of East Cheshire Council.

Mike Suarez has been a member of Lambeth’s strong senior leadership team since 2005, as Executive Director of Finance and Resources. He has played an important role in improving the council’s services including;

  • Overseeing the major savings agenda and huge improvements in our use of resources
  • Managing Lambeth’s award-winning customer and business services including revenues & benefits and legal services
  • Delivering financial discipline across the organisation through excellent audit and risk management practice

Cllr Lib Peck said,

“Thanks to Mike Suarez’s financial leadership, Lambeth is delivering vastly improved services for our residents. Mike has built an impressive team and he will leave Lambeth in an extremely strong position, with a strong senior team to lead the council forward.

‘Thanks to Mike’s work the council’s finances are extremely well-managed and huge efficiency savings have helped us to protect vital frontline services, despite the extremely challenging financial environment.”

Derrick Anderson said,

“Mike Suarez has been a key member of a strong senior management team at Lambeth. He has made a major contribution to the transformation of the council in the eight years he has been Executive Director of Finance and Resources. Mike has overseen a rigorous approach to spending which has focused on delivering value for money in everything we do, and he has developed a formidable and talented senior team.

‘We are extremely grateful for the tremendous work Mike has done to turn Lambeth into one of the country’s leading local authorities as part of the council’s senior leadership team. We wish him well in his new role as chief executive of Cheshire East council.”

Mike Suarez said,

“It has been fantastic to be part of the story of Lambeth’s success. The support over the years from members, colleagues and partners has been brilliant and I’m so pleased that the team’s hard-work has led to better services for residents, business, visitors and users of services.

‘I’m really looking forward to my role as Chief Executive at Cheshire East and have been warmed & energised by all the well wishes I have had and the friends I have made. “
