This year’s Lambeth Country Show dates have been officially announced, with a return to its regular weekend slot for south London’s most popular community festival.
The 39th Lambeth Country Show, which brings the best of the countryside to the borough, will be held on Saturday, July 20 and Sunday, July 21 in Brockwell Park, Herne Hill.
Lambeth Council’s events team are hard at work and looking into making this summer show better than ever with an enlarged farm zone and possible return of the sports themed Activate Zone.
Cllr Sally Prentice, Cabinet member for Culture and Leisure, said: “We are delighted to announce that they Lambeth Country Show will be returning to its regular summer weekend this year.
“The ongoing popularity of this fantastic event was proved with the huge turnout we enjoyed in September. I expect this summer’s Lambeth Country Show to be equally popular.
“We are still in the planning stage so there is still time for residents, community groups and businesses to get involved and take part in shaping this year’s event.”
To encourage Lambeth residents to take stalls at the event they are being offered a 40 per cent discount on the cost of a pitch, up from the 30 per cent discount last year.
Last year the free event had to be delayed until September because of the Olympics, but still attracted huge crowds with an estimated 150,000 visitors joining the fun.
A survey that followed the festival in 2012 found the vast majority of people had a great time, with 52 per cent of people rating the event as “excellent”, with another 44 per cent saying it was “good”.
