Improving older people’s housing in Lambeth

On Monday 14 January 2013 Lambeth council’s cabinet will discuss a report on older people’s housing (Item 4) for transforming housing for older people and improving quality and design so older people can live independently.

Councillor Jim Dickson, Cabinet Member for Health and Wellbeing, said,  “Our proposals are based on a crystal clear pledge; everyone who lives in older people’s housing in Lambeth will either have their homes improved or will be offered a more modern and accessible home nearby. It’ll mean older people in Lambeth will be able to live healthier and more independent lives.  Far too much of the sheltered housing in Lambeth is not fit for the future, that’s not acceptable and we’re acting to raise standards. We are not prepared to accept homes which are in a poor state of repair. Our proposals will improve the quality of life for older residents across Lambeth.”
