Lambeth councillor, Clare Whelan, was awarded an OBE in the 2013 New Year Honours. The OBE was awarded to Councillor Whelan for her services to Local Government in London. Cllr Whelan was first elected as a councilor in Lambeth on 3rd May 1990 and represents Thurlow Park ward.
Leader of Lambeth, Cllr Lib Peck said, “It is great to see a female councillor being recognised for her contribution. I know how committed Cllr Whelan is to Lambeth and her role as a local representative and I am delighted she has been recognised in this way.”
Councillor Whelan is a member of Environment and Community Safety Scrutiny Sub-Committee, Health and Adult Services Scrutiny Sub-Committee, Health and Wellbeing Board (Shadow), Joint Meeting of the Appointments, Overview and Scrutiny Committees (Substitute) and Standards Committee (Substitute)
Councillor Whelan is also a member of the Groundwork Trust: Steering Group, West Norwood Cemetery Advisory Group and the West Norwood Cemetery Scheme Of Management Committee.
