Council political leaders’ letter published in today’s Evening Standard

As the leaders of the three main political parties here in Lambeth we are calling on the energy companies to act immediately to help our residents. Lambeth has the highest rate of fuel poverty in inner London and the recent increases in gas and electricity bills will have a major impact on the people who live and work here.

We are calling on the energy companies to act today, rather than being forced to act in the future by;

  • Abolishing exit fees on energy contracts to enable customers to switch without being charged.
  • Enabling all customers, including those on prepayment meters, to take advantage of the lowest tariffs.

It is time for the energy companies to show leadership and put their customers first. Our residents look forward to your positive response.

Cllr Steve Reed, Leader of Labour Group
Cllr Ashley Lumsden, Leader of Liberal Democrats
Cllr John Whelan, Leader of Conservative Group
