Clapham Library fun day

To celebrate the newly opened Clapham Library, a range of free activities for all the family to enjoy have been organised for Saturday 14 July 2012.

A story time event with Margaret Bateson-Hill starts the activities off at 11am followed by a range of family learning activites from 12-4pm, crafts and t-shirt design from 12-4pm, Bollywood Punch and Judy show at 12.30pm and 3.30pm, story telling with Sandra Agard at 2pm and a creative writing worksho with Sandra Agard at 4pm.

We expect activities to be popular so to avoid disappointment come along to the library from opening time at 9am so you can put your name down for the activities you want to go to. Or pop along throughout the day and see what is available.

From 7-9pm in the evening there will be an event mixing together music, performance and author talks.  This event is free but you will need a ticket. There will be light refreshments provided and also goodie bags. To get a free ticket you can book on the day or put your name down in advance by calling 020 7926 1075 or by email on: readersandwriters@lambeth.gov.uk

The evening schedule will include:

  • Performance by Clapham Community Choir
  • Music by Diego Brown and the Good Fairy (musical surrealist band)
  • Author talk from Alex Wheatle
  • Performance of ‘There’s A Hole In My Heart That Goes All The Way To China’ by Stacy Makishi
  • Author talk from John O’Farrell

All activities will take place in our fantastic new modern library building at The Library Building, 91 Clapham High Street, SW4 7DB.  The library is located on the right hand side as you go in to the building.
