Amazing carers celebrated

During Carers’ Week (June 18-24), we will be recognising and celebrating the contribution of those amazing people who look after family, partners or friends voluntarily because they are ill, frail or have a disability.

Carers’ Hub Lambeth will be putting on an exciting programme of events and activities to give carers a break and opportunities to try new things.

Lambeth carers play a huge role in the lives of thousands of our residents helping them with tasks that many of us take for granted, like getting dressed, eating meals, washing or taking medicine. Carers also help with things like shopping, laundry, cleaning, cooking, filling in forms or managing money

There will be a range of activities and events taking place around the borough to inform people about the support and respite available to carers, and activities designed to gives carers a break. This includes a carers’ picnic, a ‘carers’ got talent’ event, a relaxation day, a trip to a seaside town and an information event in Windrush Square.

All the events during Lambeth carers Week are intended to give carers the recognition they deserve, provide some time away from their caring role and have information available on issues like health and respite.

Carers Hub Lambeth receives around 200 calls a month from carers from all walks of life, looking after friends, neighbours, relatives and children with health conditions ranging from Autism to Dementia.

If you look after someone who is ill, frail or disabled of any age, you are a carer and can access information and support from Carers’ Hub Lambeth.
