Do you know that special someone who will always go the extra mile to improve the lives of people within their neighbourhood or for residents in the borough as a whole?
If the answer is ‘yes’ then your unsung hero or heroine could be exactly the kind of person we would like to become a ‘Lambeth Champion’. Our awards are about highlighting the selfless acts of kindness Lambeth residents carry out on a daily basis and giving them the recognition they deserve.
Lambeth Council Leader, Cllr Steve Reed, said:
“We believe people should be recognised and thanked for their hard work, dedication, and commitment to Lambeth. This is why we have launched the Lambeth Champion Awards. The awards give residents the power to tell us who you think are Lambeth’s Champions and ensure their efforts are celebrated.”
To be eligible nominees must simply live or work in Lambeth and have made a positive contribution within the community in an unpaid or voluntary capacity. There’s no deadline for nominations which can be submitted on a rolling basis throughout the course of the year. Nominees selected for an award will be invited to a series of receptions held at the Town Hall where they will be presented with a certificate and a Lambeth Champion Lapel badge.
Lambeth Champions will have their picture taken for inclusion within a ‘Lambeth Champions’ Year Book’ which will be displayed within the Town Hall reception. All nominations received over the course of the year will be put forward to the annual civic awards where a panel of judges will decide two brand new Civic Award Winners within a ‘Lambeth Champions of the Year’ category. The two categories will include ‘Young Person of the Year (under 25 years) and Community Champion of the Year.
Nominations will only be accepted from Lambeth residents and nominees must be over the age of 16. All we need to know is your Lambeth Champions name, address, telephone number or email address, why you are nominating them for an award, a description of the activity that you think they deserve to be recognised, and why you think the person or group is making a difference in your local area or to the improvement of life in Lambeth.
