Shoppers hunting for last minute Christmas presents will be able to park for free in Brixton on Christmas Eve, Lambeth Council has announced.
Parking charges will be lifted on the key shopping day to give a boost to local shops and businesses and encourage people to shop locally.
Cllr Lorna Campbell, Cabinet Member for Environment and Sustainability, said: “There are some fantastic small shops and stalls in Brixton that offer great gift ideas, and free parking is a simple step that will hopefully be an extra incentive for people to come to Brixton to do their shopping on Christmas Eve.”
Drivers will be able to park for free in Pay and Display bays on Christmas Eve at roads around the town centre. Parking customers should look out for the free parking signage on the pay and display machines on the day and other advertising so they know which streets are included.
