Fifty independent retailers in Streatham and Norwood have given their windows the ‘wow’ factor having learned window dressing skills from a team of specialist designers.
International Visual Ltd – visual merchandising specialists – is working with Lambeth Council to provide window dressing support to local traders in the run up to Christmas. Businesses that have spruced up their shop fronts range from a herbal remedy shop to a handbag shop, and a balloon shop.
Retailers taking part in the project benefited from:
- bespoke one to one advice
- training at their premises on the key principles of window dressing
- follow-up re-fresher and re-cap visits
West Norwood retailer Beverly Walters of B’s Balloons comments: “It’s been very encouraging for the business community that the council is making efforts to help local businesses. People are always saying how nice they think the display is – it’s really nice to hear positive opinions.
“I already have an idea for what to do for next year and I will be using the advice I was given to put together an even better display next year”.
Traders will also be able to take part in a competition to find the best dressed window on the high street – the winners will be announced before Christmas, and they will be invited to a retailer networking event in the new year.
Cllr. Sally Prentice, cabinet member for regeneration, planning, employment and enterprise, said
“Christmas is a critical time of year for retail businesses, and I would encourage all Lambeth residents to explore what their local high street has to offer.
“The visual merchandising programme is providing expert advice to local businesses about how to attract new customers”.
There is still an opportunity for Streatham and Norwood based retailers to take part in the scheme to dress their windows. For more information call Russell on 020 7926 2471 or Claudia on 020 7926 0782 or email firstname.lastname@example.org.
