Free service helps residents bask in the glow of energy efficiency

This free service, run in partnership with the Greater London Energy Efficiency Network, is available until February 2011 and is designed to help homeowners and private sector tenants struggling to pay their fuel bills.

Qualifying householders taking part in the scheme are visited in their homes by a trained advisor who carries out a home energy assessment. The adviser can suggest value-for-money fuel bills and tariffs, and lifestyle changes to help reduce energy use. They can also assess householders’ eligibility for relevant heating and insulation grants or discount schemes, and make referrals to these schemes.

Councillor Lib Peck, Cabinet Member for Housing: said: “In these cash strapped times we’re doing all we can to help residents stretch their budgets, and this project has already played a part in helping households cut their energy bills. Anyone who thinks they may benefit from this scheme and might be eligible for an energy assessment should pick up the phone to find out more”.

To be eligible for a visit, residents have to:

  • live in either the Knights Hill, St Leonards, or Streatham Wells wards or
  • be a householder aged over 65 or on income or disability related benefits.

If you want to book an appointment or find out more about this project call 0800 652 3158 or email warmerhomes@gleen.org.uk
