Tenants and residents of the Clapham Park estate have today voted in favour of a stock transfer. This means that management of their homes will now be transferred to a new community based housing association called Clapham Park Homes.
Seventy-eight per cent of those eligible to vote took part in the ballot, with 59.3 per cent of tenants and 62.8 per cent of leasholders voting in favour of the transfer.
The new agreement will enable tenants to enjoy a number of benefits including a proposed £82m programme of repairs and improvements and a £468m redevelopment programme. They will also receive investment to improve security along with crime prevention measures, and a range of new community facilities including a new primary school, more retail outlets and a new central park.
Cllr. Peter Truesdale, Lambeth Council Leader commented; “Now that tenants and residents have voted in favour of the transfer, we can now work on delivering the scheme. The council will be vigilant of tenants and residents interests”.
