Brixton Central Square safety-have your say

Residents are invited to attend a workshop examining personal safety issues connected with proposals for the new Brixton Central Square. The Square is planned as an innovative public space of local, national and international significance in the heart of Lambeth.

Consultation has now begun on the ambitious project which would link Tate Gardens, Windrush Square and St Matthew’s Church Peace Garden. Key issues that have arisen include personal safety, crime, and concerns about traffic and travelling through the area.

The workshops have been arranged to facilitate discussion of these matters before the designers develop proposals for display at the forthcoming Open Day on Saturday 16 April in Windrush Square from 12-4pm.

The workshops will take place on Saturday 2 April 2005 from 1-4pm at St Matthew’s Estate Tenants’ Hall, St Matthew’s Road, Brixton. For further information contact Paul Jackson at the Brixton Town Centre Office on 02079261052 or email: pjackson3@lambeth.gov.uk.
